In my most recent post Invaders from the Southern Hemisphere, I mentioned a non-toxic (to us) ant spray my lovely wife created. Several subscribers contacted me for the recipe. So, with her permission and for your edification here it is.

Elfin Herb Farm Ant Spray Formula
To make 16 oz, to a spray bottle add:
8 oz rubbing alcohol (70 or 90%)
8 oz water
10 ml (= 2 tsp) peppermint essential oil. (Not fragrance oil.)
Add the rubbing alcohol to the bottle first, then add in the essential oil so it dissolves into the alcohol. Add the water last. Put the spray top on and shake to mix.
Note: this is very aromatic, especially indoors.
Additional options: If you have any Eucalyptus essential oil, you can add 5 ml (=1 tsp) to the above formula as well.
To make this Ant Spray last longer outside, there is another formula that has Fractionated Coconut Oil (also called MCT oil) and alcohol in the base. Note: because of the oil in it, it can discolor some painted surfaces.
